Forms & Fees
Our adoption fees vary depending on the animal and the situation. Some of the animals we care for are fostered through local agencies like the Spokane Humane Society or the Spokane Regional Animal Protection Society. In those cases, their posted adoption fees would apply.
Sponsoring animals at River's Wish
We are always in need of sponsors to help us pay for medical care, food and supplies. We accept sponsorships in increments of $25. If you have a specific animal you would like to sponsor, you can indicate that on the form, or you can allow us to pick an animal in need. Please contact us if you have questions.

Adopting a rabbit from Thumpqua
If you're interested in adopting a rabbit (or two!) from Thumpqua at River's Wish, here's what you need to know:
STEPS TO ADOPTING A RABBIT:
We have an adoption policy and contract which can be downloaded by clicking the link below for your convenience. You are welcome to print these out to gain a clearer understanding of our expectations for adopters. You are also welcome to print them out and complete them so that you can bring them with you on your scheduled adoption date. Please feel free to contact us should you have any questions or need assistance with completing the forms.
- All Thumpqua rabbits are spayed or neutered before going to their adoptive homes.
- The adoption fee is $50, which covers the cost of the spay/neuter and a bit of their daily care.
- The adoption fee for bonded pairs is $90.
- All Thumpqua rabbits must be provided with a safe, indoor home.
- If you are adopting a companion for your rabbit, bunny dates are encouraged. Bring your rabbit with you and let him/her choose a friend!
STEPS TO ADOPTING A RABBIT:
- Visit our available rabbits here or contact us to let us know you're interested.
- A volunteer will contact you to set up an interview which can be done through e-mail or by phone.
- After the interview, we'll schedule a visit to River's Wish, where you can meet the rabbits at Thumpqua. We are currently scheduling adoption visits and bunny dates for Sundays.
- On the day of your visit, you will be introduced to all the Thumpqua residents. You will be encouraged to visit and play with any residents for adoption that interest you.
- Once a decision is made, you will be shown how to trim nails and clean scent glands on your newest family member.
- The rabbit will also be checked for any health concerns before going home.
- You will be given a bag of rabbit feed from the shelter along with instructions on how to transition your bun to the feed that you will be feeding. It is very important not to change a rabbit's diet suddenly.
- You bring your new family member home that day, so you will want to be sure and bring a carrier lined with a towel or something bunny friendly to prevent slipping for the ride home. (A medium size cat carrier typically works well unless you are looking at a larger breed rabbit which would need a larger carrier to accommodate their size accordingly.)
