Meet Dusty | Loving rabbits seek forever homes
Meet Dusty. Dusty came to us from a couple who had purchased him at a local pet store around Easter time. Dusty is one of thousands of rabbits sold annually as a commercial product at Easter. Sadly, most of these bunnies are soon forgotten as the novelty wears off and they are often neglected or abandoned. Please encourage anyone you know, who is even contemplating the notion of giving a rabbit as an Easter gift, to choose chocolate instead. It's the compassionate thing to do. Dusty has since been adopted into a wonderful home, to be companion to two other lucky bunnies. Read the 1998 article from the Spokesman Review about Rabbit Realities and why we don't support Easter and Bunnies. For more information on rabbits go to www.rabbitron.com, local rabbit experts. River's Wish is home to many rabbits that are looking for permanent, loving homes. Read more about Thumpqua, our rabbit sanctuary here. Meet Ennis | Hard times mean new home for pot belly pig
Ennis is a big boy. And boy was he ever exhausted at the end of the first day of a big transition for him. Ennis had been a bottle baby whose family could no longer care for him, due to the economy. Upon his arrival at the sanctuary, Ennis was met by our bossy girl pig, Delilah. Little did Ennis know that she was the same species. We set up a bed for him in Pete's shop so he can transition more easily without Delilah telling him what to do. Pigs are intelligent, sensitive, clean and charming animals. See how you can help pigs and other animals at www.goveg.com.
Meet Savannah & Scud | Finding solace after great loss
Many times, animals are left alone and without a home after their owners suddenly die. Savannah and Scud are two such pets. When their owner died, they were already elderly and keeping them together was a priority. River's Wish was contacted and Savannah and Scud were able to stay together and enjoy their retirement.
Meet Walter | Giving thanks for his life and his new home
Walter is a proud and handsome Narragansett turkey, who will live out his natural life at River's Wish. Thanks to the sanctuary, he'll never worry about being consumed. Long live Walter! The poultry industry has many cruel practices that most consumers know nothing about. To learn more about domestic birds and how you can help please visit United Poultry Concerns.
