Here's a view from Joseph's Field of the Sanctuary during Summer 2009.

Walter the turkey Dusty
Meet Walter, a Narragansett turkey, who will live out his natural life here and never worry about being consumed.  Long live Walter.
To learn more about domestic birds and how you can help please visit United Poultry Concerns.
Meet Dusty.  Dusty came to us from a couple who had purchased him at a local pet store around Easter time.  Dusty is one of thousands of rabbits sold annually as a commercial product at Easter.  Sadly, most of these bunnies are soon forgotten as the novelty wears off and they are often neglected or abandoned.  Please encourage anyone you know, who is even contemplating the notion of giving a rabbit as an Easter gift, to choose chocolate instead.  It's the compassionate thing to do.
Dusty has been adopted into a wonderful home, to be companion to two other lucky bunnies.
Read the 1998 article from the Spokesman Review about Rabbit Realities and why we don't support Easter and Bunnies.
For more information on rabbits go to www.rabbitron.com, local rabbit experts.
Ennis
Meet Ennis.  Ennis was exhausted at the end of the first day of a big transition for him.  Ennis had been a bottle baby whose family could no longer care for him, due to the economy.  Upon his arrival at the sanctuary, Ennis was met by our bossy girl pig, Delilah.  Little did Ennis know that she was the same species.  We set up a bed for him in Pete's shop so he can transition more easily without Delilah telling him what to do.
Pigs are intelligent, sensitive, clean and charming animals.  See how you can help pigs and other animals at www.goveg.com

Check out Petfinder.org for a full list of rabbits available for adoption!

Thinking about adopting a rabbit or two? Go to www.rabbitron.com, House Rabbit Society and www.makeminechocolate.org/learning.php and find out how the experts do it with the 'interactive bun'!

ABOUT RIVER'S WISH ANIMAL SANCTUARY

We are a 501c-3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescuing of animals in need.  We provide shelter and care to rabbits primarily.  We also offer sanctuary to dogs, cats, goats, horses, sheep and pigs.  Our goal is to provide them with permanent and loving homes.  We offer educational outreach and participate in adoption fairs.

In 1995 we joined a local pet rescue group which opened our eyes to the plight of animals in need.  We have since fostered and placed hundreds of dogs, cats and rabbits.  We incorporated in 2004 as a non-profit animal sanctuary. We operate a sanctuary to several species and you will find information on them in various places on our website.

River's Wish is named after our beloved dog, River. River's Wish is situated on 65 acres in Spokane county.  Caring for the animals at River's Wish requires immense amounts of time and money.  If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation, please click on the Donations link.
